Pros and cons of HCL Verse app for iPhone and iPad
HCL Verse app good for
Impressing mail client which makes my day much easier to access my mail and calendar. Thanks IBM!
I love the Verse app and it has never crashed for me, as I saw noted in a previous review. I would give it 5 stars if it only had the "remove from inbox" icon. I realize that were not on the servers that allow us to retrieve email in the "all documents" space, but just the ability to triage email from my phone in the evening or while traveling would be a HUGE time saver - since there is no time to triage during the day.
App is a good mobile solution considering that my organization running its work on IBM Lotus Notes. The only problem for me is that you cant filter unread messages. It has to be there.
Ive been using it for over 6 months. Its fast and stable. UI is clear and easy to use. Overall, its a solid app.
Some bad moments
Everything worked perfectly fine until I installed the most recent update on my iPhone 5. The app starts as usual, emails are displayed for a few seconds, then the app crashes.
I have to use verse, but am lacking the knowledge as to why I should do this. Its slower than the native Apple apps! The "encrypted mail feature" requires manual intervention (each mail needs to be tapped separately to be download!) and my iPad is slow as molasses with verse running.
What a waste of developer resources
This app brings one of the best features of the Desktop Verse experience to the iPhone - the ability to filter your inbox by tapping on the icons of your VIPs (bosses and direct reports in my case). But the latest version of the app hangs regularly on my device. While scrolling through a list of messages it will become unresponsive and not allow any swiping or tapping. The calendar doesnt work as well and the task manager is completely parallel to the main IBM Verse task manager. Looks like this version of the app didnt get a good bug sweep before release.
The app is truly wonderful but it crashes too often and the frequency seems to be increasing.
Looking forward to a new bug fix drop - a google of IBM verse crash gives fixed in the next release. I hope so...
Particularly frequent seems to be looking at calendar entry details.
Even though push tick is set in settings, I dont have any new emails until I open this app and refresh it manually.
There is no online update!!!! As soon as it is- it will be the best app!
